Here in this year 2020 is one of the richest musical sources of the old south again in action for our happiness, the aptly named Louisiana's Leroux, a real institution in Louisiana, in the same way as Potliquor and The Radiators. This new opus "One of Those Days" is simply grandiose, and we find a part of the original line-up from 1978 and their two prestigious first and second albums (Leroux - Louisiana's Leroux/1978 and Keep the Fire Burnin '/1979) Leon Medica/bass and Tony Haselden/lead guitar and slide, and Rod Roddy/piano. Guitarist Jim Odom, present since the 1983 album "So Fired Up", is also there. Their new singer Jeff Mc Carty is brilliant with a soulful voice at the top level. Their music flows in the ear like a precious nectar from the start with the album title "One of Those Days" composed by Jim Odom, very "Allmanian" in its construction, a real delight. It continues royally with the cover of Dustin Ransom "No One's Gonna Love Me (Like The Way You Do)" with a slight harmonization of the guitars, then we enter until the end of the album in a rhythm and blues, soul, funky groove, typically from Louisiana that has made the glory of artists like Dr John, Allen Toussaint, The Meters, The Neville Brothers... Louisiana's Leroux continues the tradition with very good guitar parts on titles like "Lucy Anna" or "After All". A solid mano a mano of guitars, one of which in slide, expresses itself on "Nothing Left To Lose" which reminds me of the only High Cotton disc dating from 1975 produced by Allen Toussaint. Subsequently, the feeling on edge on the country soul "The Song Goes On", as well as the cover "Lifeline / Redux" of their opus "So Fired Up/1983" played differently. Then the musicians also refine their know-how on the instrumental "Hot Sauce" with in the end a new version of their standard dating from 1978 "New Orleans Ladies" with guest Tab Benoit on mediator who had already recorded a version on his album from 2008 "Tab Benoit With Louisiana's Leroux/Night Train To Nashville" with the participation of Jimmy Hall.
